I’ve spent the last couple of evenings crocheting a doily for my Nan. I have to say, it’s been a bit of a Krytpon Factor experience that has changed my view of doilies – I use to see them as frilly dust magnets, but I’ve decided they’re actually feats of engineering…
I wanted a modern, Summery pattern and found one called Autumn Reflections Doily by Cylinda Mathews, on Ravelry.
Progress
The pattern only had 15 rounds so it was quite quick to complete. I was so busy concentrating, I didn’t really take any photos of the process.
Edging
I love the simple edging detail of picot stitch.
Blocking
I don’t normally block my finished crochet projects (a bit lazy of me really) but I decided I would in this case because the edges had curled up slightly and I wanted the doily to sit flat.
The Women’s Institute would be proud!

- Crochet hook: Clover no.2 (1.5mm)

I don’t have the doily anymore but from looking at the photos I think you work the sc in the top stitch of the cluster (into the base of the ch1). Does that help?
