Hello folks! I’ve had a bit of a digital Spring clean and changed a few things around around here. I finally came up with a new name and resigned by blog (previously gemmagarner.com). Anyway, now you know who I am I’ll get to the good stuff… plants!
The Hebe in the front garden was on its last legs so we bought this multi coloured Erysimum as a replacement. I was half way through digging it out the ground and noticed lots of tiny green shoots on the branches. Oh well, I won’t complain about having more plants. We were also given a yellow Erysimum as an Easter gift.
These forget-me-not have self seeded from last year. I ripped most of them out because they were crowding the other plants, but I think they had already shed their seed by that time.
Can you see the tiny feather on this geranium leaf? It’s from a robin’s breast. If you look closely, you can see a tinge of red at the end.
I’m not sure how they’ve done it but the robins have us well trained. When they hop around by the back door it means they’re waiting for meal worms. As soon as I go out there with the tub, they fly over to the fence above where I scatter them.
Unfortunately the Granny’s bonnet blew over in the wind 🙁
This is one of the bluetits using our nest box! We can hear the babies chirping now, I hope they all make it.
Rows of seedlings line our kitchen windowsill at the moment. The weather has been warm enough to wear shorts lately, so I started hardening them off ready to plant outside. Then the temperature dropped and we had snow!? Our other beans have started to curl around the blind and really need to go outdoors.
Has anyone noticed April has been really dry? Plants in pots have started to wilt because we’ve had barely any rain. Warm weather is nice to have but we need rain at this time of year. On the bright side, we’ve already had 3 bbq’s already!

It’s all looking so lovely in your garden, all those flowers *sigh* one day I will have a garden like that that I can be super proud of too.
I found a baby bird in its egg on our patio this afternoon 🙁 Hopefully the rest of the little blighters make it.
The weather has been pretty constant here this week, the forecast keeps threatening rain and frost but it hasn’t materialised yet thank goodness 🙂

Your comment has made my day 🙂 I’m pleased you like it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed the rest of the birds stay in the nestbox. We haven’t seen any of ours yet, only the parents coming and going. I always worry they’ll get too fat and won’t be able to get out of the box.
