Grand Meetup 2019 in purple

Hold on to your eyeballs, I have some wild photos to show you. Orlando, Florida in a colourful cocktail of purple, blue and pink!

Plane parked on tarmac

I visited Orlando for the 2019 Grand Meetup — a single week where the whole company gets together. Spending IRL time with people I chat to every day is always good fun.

Funny story on the US side… we were sat on hotel bus and Scott said “where is that smoke coming from?”. I looked down and said “oh it’s just someone vaping in their car with the window down”. A few minutes later, smell of burnt rubber filled the air and the driver said the bus was on fire. Smoke but no flames, thankfully. Didn’t stop me worrying about the camera film and six bars of team chocolate in my suitcase though. Fark.

Most of my evenings were spent in the pool or floating around the Lazy River on an inflatable ring. I hardly ever go swimming so I wanted to make the most of it, especially with it being so warm.

As you may have guessed, palm trees were my photographic obsession of the week.

I used a 35mm film called Lomochrome purple and that’s what produced these amazing colours. Colour shifts can be altered by changing the ISO but I kept mine consistent across the whole roll (400). I love this film more than I thought I would — I actually intended to finish this roll before travelling to America but I’m glad I didn’t now. It fits the place perfectly.

I shot another roll of equally jazzy film and will share those photos once my eyes have recalibrated themselves 🙂

  1. Great shots! Lomo got some really interesting films. I’m just waiting for the Metropolis to come out. I LOVE that desaturated look!

Thanks Fotis, I have some Metropolis on pre-order and can’t wait for it to arrive!
