I have a rule that I’ll only wear something I’ve made once it has been photographed. This means I cast off my Hexa Hap several weeks ago but haven’t worn it yet. “Hap” means to cover or keep warm and this garment will certainly do that. I’m so pleased with it.
The pattern was written by Tom van Deijnen and uses Kate Davies Buachaille yarn. I forgot to take photos of the process but the hap is made from six triangles. As each triangle is completed, stitches are picked up along the edge and form the start of the next triangle. I knitted the full size hap but there are also half and 2/3 sizes available.
Buachaille is one of my favourite yarns. I love the tiny flecks of colour in Haar (the lighter shade), it’s soft and smells like sheep. Warm too.
I do most of my knitting in front of the TV and this is the hap Narcos made. The series had me on the edge of my seat which helped speed up the rows. Although this productivity was balanced out by me forgetting how to count stitches because I was so engrossed in what I was watching… hey ho.

I have a similar rule–it’s weird, because it makes no logical sense to me, just wear the thing already, but I can’t!
I love that shawl–the colors, the texture, so pretty! I knit while watching things too. I’ve recently got the point where I can knit and watch subtitles, so I’m currently watching all the Eastern European Things right now. 🙂
Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I think I impose this rule on myself because I worry about snagging my work or doing something that will mean it doesn’t look its best. Glad to know it’s not just me though 🙂
