Innocent’s Big Knit 2012

Pink knitted hat on Innocent smoothie bottle

I discovered Innocent’s Big Knit too late last year, but I’m pleased to say I have a box of hats to post this year!

For those of your not familiar with the Big Knit, 25p from the sale of every hatted bottle goes straight to Age UK – the money is then used to help the elderly community,

“Your hats will fund a range of winter initiatives including home visits, befriending and lunch clubs giving older people new skills to cope in the cold weather.”

And here are my hats!

I got a little bit addicted to making fair isle patterns!

There’s only one more thing I love more than fair isle knits, and that’s stripy ones…

If you fancy knitting some hats of your own, check out the Big Knit page on the Innocent website.

Keep an eye out for my hats on Innocent Smoothie bottles!

  1. Hi,
I am also knitting for innocent smoothies and I really like your hats.
I was wondering if you could tell me the pattern you used for the pink hat in the first picture and the little pink and blue hat.

    • Sure! They are based on Innocent’s ‘basic’ pattern:

Pink hat: I used the number of stitches outlined in the pattern and worked stockinette stitch: knit 1 row, purl 1 row, knit 1 row… – but alternated between 2 colours along each row to give the fair isle effect. So one stitch light pink, one stitch dark pink repeated all the way to the end. And that’s it 🙂

Blue hat: I worked the rib rows then 2 rows (stockinette stitch for all) in blue, 2 rows in yellow, 2 rows in blue, another 2 rows in yellow and blue to the end.

      Hope that helps 🙂
