Knitting mega stash

I have inherited what is best described as a ‘knitting mega stash’.

This collection was kindly given to me by Scott’s Grandma after her sister died. She started knitting at the same sort of age as me and carried on for 50 years, so you can image how many patterns and needles she accumulated during this time. I’ve started sorting through everything this week and her collection contains:

  • 8 balls of wool
  • 1 knitting needle bag
  • 6 volumes of Creative Knitting ring binders containing 1641 knitting patterns
  • 125 knitting needles
  • 2 crochet hooks
  • 215 separate patterns and pattern books

I’m going to spend the next few weeks bookmarking patterns – I’ve already seen some great patterns for women’s jumpers.

Some of the men’s fashion made me laugh out loud 🙂 I can imagine Scott’s face if he unwrapped this zingy jumper on Christmas day!

Erk!

She had every size of knitting needle you could think of.

Her collection contains some lovely vintage patterns with prices written in Shillings.

This is part of her collection of loose knitting patterns.

I’ll enjoy sorting through everything. I plan to clean and polish all the needles and try and find plastic sleeves for the patterns. I’ll do another blog post in a few weeks time and share some of the gems.

I’m sure you’ll agree, this is a lovely thing to inherit!
