Rosendals Trädgård is one of my favourite places in Stockholm. It is a biodynamic garden with several glasshouses containing a fantastic cafe, seating and plants for sale. We first visited three years ago for lunch after getting engaged in the Winter. Things looked quite different this time around…
The plant house is one of my favourite areas of Rosendals. So many nice plants, pots and gardening supplies. It’s a good job we don’t have a garden here. Between the cafe and the plant shop, our pockets would be cleaned out! I’m don’t have much self control when it comes to plants and we both love our food.
The hydrangeas seemed to be struggling in the heat and were soaking in a sink of water.
Does anyone know what the purple flowers at the front are? I read the tag at the time but I’ve completely forgotten now. I do this every time I look at a tag… when will I learn.
Heavy snow had fallen when we last visited; most of the gardens and orchard out of bounds. There were clear blue skies this time so we carried our lunch to the orchard and sat in the shade under an old apple tree. We feasted on giant asparagus salads, homemade bread and butter and cinnamon buns.
This apple tree planted in 1889 was the oldest we could find.
We planned to explore more of the gardens but it was stupidly hot. And it’s not often our exploring spitit is defeated. Sitting in the shade under an apple tree seemed like a better plan this time around. Happy days.
Beautiful, I bought some of those purple flowers last week for the front but I can’t remember their name 😔 haven’t checked if they are still there the slugs and snails have had a gastro delight with the plants I put in 😡 xxx
I think you would like it here and Graham would definitely enjoy all the sweet treats 🙂 I’ll keep my fingers crossed the purple flowers aren’t that tasty for slugs and snails. xx

This place looks beautiful! Unfortunately I don’t know what the purple flowers are, but they do look familiar.
On a side note, I see the Swedish word for cauliflower is similar to the German word, Blumenkohl. I’d find it hard to resist those pretty seed packages.
Me too, those seeds would have been all mine if I lived here! 🙂
