Around Stockholm, January 2025

Sun shining on snowy street
Winter in Stockholm

January was a month of low sun, sledge travel, wildlife prints in the snow, crunchy pavements, gritter noise, long shadows, sunglasses, lethargic Stockholmers and white snow filled nighttime skies.

Gravel and litter
Winter filth

Stockholm is a very clean city. Demonstrated by the remarkably small amount of litter in this mound containing several weeks of gravel and ice scrapings. That said, these mounds quite often give me the ick — I've been known to gag randomly.

Winter coat brigade

This Winter was cold but at the same time, noticeably milder than others we've experienced since moving here. As cold weather lovers, we were both willing on the snow and ice fog!

I miss seeing the snow barrel down this street <3

Oranges in wooden crates on the street

The colour of these oranges was a welcome sight on such a blue day. Later in the year, this deli stacks a long row of Swedish apples outside. You can often see them before you smell them.

Söderbokhandeln, Götgatan

We often stop by Söderbokhandeln when passing, even if we don't need anything. It's nice to go in and look at all the cover designs and we always spot some funny niches. Like Russian Criminal Tattoo, which contains several thousand prison tattoos documented over a prison attendants lifetime.

Even when the sun isn't shining, you can always top up at Thorildsplan T-Bana. Hah.

And that’s all for January!
