Around Stockholm, June 2024

June was a month of high temperatures, streets that smelt like strawberries, deep blue skies, floaty clothing, Aperol spritz adverts, white caps on heads, tick vaccination signs, pop-up bars, fashionable cyclists, sun worshipers and sporadic rain.

As the temperature rose, so did the number of people flocking to the water. The amount of water is one the many reasons I love Stockholm — you really don't have to go far to find it and the coastline is beautiful.

Part way through June, a much needed deluge arrived! Unfortunately for us, it was also the day we decided to take the in-laws sightseeing. Water flowed along the roads like small rivers. We hopped from doorway to doorway, in attempt to edge closer towards a train station or bus stop, and ended up hiding in a supermarket instead.

Work on the New Slussen project has been ongoing since we arrived, so we were excited to see this part open recently. Smooth cycle lanes and plenty of places to sit along the water. The overall area development will take a few more years though.

That's all for June!
