Around Stockholm, October 2024

October was a month of pelts in prams, reflectors on jackets, low sun, pumpkins and gourds, rustling leaves, blue light, piles of apples, misty mornings, the return of candles in cafés, cool air and closed toe shoes.

Temperatures dipped at the end of the month and suddenly, my thin cotton jacket wasn't quite enough. It was finally time to dig out some wool!

This dog is called Malte and he spends time in Café Mariaberget, Södermalm. There was a sign next to him that read:
"Malte is very old and wants to be left alone. Thank you for understanding."
The four of us joked "same Malte, same".

It has been a bumper year for Swedish apples. Shops have been well stocked and many houses put boxes of free fruit outside their gates. We picked up some local apples and cooked them with cinnamon, to stash in the freezer and eat over Winter.

And that's all for October!
