Fem år

When we arrived in Stockholm, I embarked on a project to document the city every month, for one year. Plenty of people share the grammable spots but I wanted to show everyday normality and capture how the city changed during the monumental shift between Summer and Winter. Not just that, but also how life evolved during the pandemic.
The end of year one quickly rolled around and I didn't feel ready to stop. So I set myself the goal of getting to three years. Three years became five... and here we are! Fem år. Five years of purposefully taking city photos every single month. It has taken a lot of discipline but it has been a hugely enjoyable project that has:
- Helped me convey why I love this place so much
- Helped me see/notice more
- Made me a better photographer — I use that term very loosely because I'll always see myself more as someone who just likes taking photos
Now I've reached the point where I fancy a break. So February 2025 is the last Around Stockholm post for a while. I may pick up the project again in the future but it won't be the monthly endeavor it is now. In the meantime, I'll continue generally blogging and sharing our adventures.
Låt oss fira!
I decided to celebrate the five year anniversary of this project with some of my favourite photos!

Even after all this time, I still haven't worked out what this lampshade is connected to!

It was hard to only choose a few! Many of my favourites are snow and ice (no surprise to the people who know me well). I generally feel more inspired to take photos during colder months and I'm fascinated by that aspect of life in this country.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who has followed along over the past five years ❤ I noticed plenty of the same people liking and commenting, which always made me happy. I hope my photography has helped you get to know Sweden and perhaps inspired you to travel here someday. Maybe you'll fall in love with it too.
