Meet Felix

Felix is a crochet frog. A friend of ours had a baby and this is the gift I made for their little boy. I found the pattern on Ravelry and couldn't resist his big eyes and beaming smile! What a charmer.

I made a couple of small changes to the pattern: crocheted the top of the arms in blue to make sleeves and I added some edging to the sleeves and the bottom of the jumper. For the edging I picked up stitches and repeated: sl st, ch3, sk1.

To make him feel a bit more cuddly, I shortened the arms and legs.

I love the oversized eyes, they look so cheerful!

And this is us trying to photograph my handiwork. I had trouble propping him up so I asked Scott if I could borrow him. He's use to my strange requests but I think dangling a frog from a piece of thread might be the oddest yet. We had a few laughs because Felix is top heavy, so trying to keep him upright was like watching a drunk frog stumble around!

Things with faces are hard to give away but hopefully Felix will be a good companion to his new owner.
